The Practice is attached to the University Department of Primary Health Care and teaches a range of student doctors.
We believe it is a important part of their training to meet with real patients but if you would rather not have them present, you need only mention this to either the receptionist or the doctor.
We have the privilege of having medical students in the fifth year of their training working with us for 6 week blocks throughout the year. The student may simply 'sit in' with a training doctor, or consult with and assess your health problems before presenting their assessment to the supervising doctor who will complete the consultation. The attention and care of the students is often warmly appreciated by our patients.
In addition, small groups of students come to the practice to learn basic medical skills and speak with patients for the very first time as trainee professionals.
