Asking You may read information in the waiting room and wish to ask a member of staff about how to sign up to a study.

Practice Nurses

There is a practice nurse working in the surgery each morning and afternoon. They have a lead role in the routine management of long-term conditions such as:

  • Lung conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) blood_taking
  • High blood pressure, diabetes, stroke and heart disease
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

In addition they provide the following services:

  • Dressings
  • Blood taking
  • Dietary and health advice
  • Ear irrigation - please ask about softening your ear wax beforehand
  • Immunisation - against preventable diseases
  • Cervical smear tests
  • Contraception
  • Spirometry breathing tests
  • Medication Reviews

The following care can be provided by our Health and Research Practitioner 

  • New patient checks
  • NHS health checks 
  • Help stopping smoking
  • Blood taking
  • Hearing tests
  • Home blood pressure monitoring
  • ECG heart tracings

Other Services

  • Wednesday between 09:30-11:30
  • Thursday between 10:30-11:00

Maternity Care - The midwife holds a clinic at the surgery every Tuesday morning.

Minor Surgery - the Health Centre can offer some minor operations, joint injections and Cryo surgery for some conditions.

Preventative Care - we do not hold special clinics for preventive medicine; instead we prefer to discuss such matters in ordinary surgery.  We are happy to talk about all aspects of health, even if you are in fact well.  We do not consider this to be a waste of our time.
